Photofacial Treatment

A laser light treatment, referred to as a photofacial treatment, provides a non-invasive means of treating many skin surface conditions with little downtime. This can often be done over a lunch hour. These laser treatments use intense pulse light (IPL) to gently heat the surface area to remove age spots, freckles, redness or tiny spider veins on your face. You will generally begin to see improvement with the first visit. However, it is typical to perform three to five treatments to achieve the full results available through a photofacial treatment. The number of treatments recommended will be based upon your skin type and the skin pigmentation issues being treated.

At The K Spa, we offer advanced laser options for our photofacial treatments with experienced skin specialists and medical supervision. Our medical director, Dr. Benjamin Stong, is a dual board certified facial plastic surgeon whose vast experience and expertise influence all our procedures and treatments. Our team uses the latest in laser skin treatment techniques and equipment in our photofacials and all of our cosmetic procedures to ensure the best results for our patients.

As with all our treatment plans, your photofacial treatment may be combined with other skin care applications or procedures to give you the best results. Photofacials are not recommended for all skin types, particularly darker skin types. If this is the case, your laser skin specialist will provide you with the preferred treatment options for your skin tone and/or conditions. Our experts will make sure that you are not just satisfied but thrilled with your results. We will also present you with the very best treatment plan for your individual skin type and the issues you desire to resolve.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Laser Treatment

Intense pulse light, or IPL, laser treatment is a unique light treatment that is very targeted in its approach. If you have previously treated specific dark spots on your skin, you may have seen them darken following initial treatment. Then, gradually, the top layer of darkness flakes off, leaving the spots lighter. When red blotches or spider veins are treated with IPL, you will see the redness gradually lighten after each treatment in the series.

IPL is different than other types of laser treatments. This is due to the intensity and frequency of the light energy used. Instead of a direct laser application, it targets specific areas, usually darker pigments in the skin. For photofacials, it helps reduce the appearance of any darker spots or hyperpigmentation, which creates a more even skin tone that is considered more attractive and youthful. Over the course of your treatment plan, you can watch sun spots, blotches and broken capillaries disappear, revealing a clear, even-toned complexion that many people desire.

We encourage our patients to always begin the process with us by scheduling a general facial consultation. During your consultation, we can assess your skin type, problem areas and discuss your desired results. We can work together to develop a customized plan that best fits your timeline and preferred treatment options.
